History
Kyōto-Seikadai-mae Station opened on 21 September 1989 on the Eizan Electric Railway Kurama Line for the convenience of students commuting to Kyoto Seika University, and is the newest station on the company's network. It initially opened for business as a temporary station; the formal station building was completed on 21 January 1990, and then, on 28 September of the same year, the section from Iwakura Station to Nikenchaya Station was doubled again, giving the station its present form. It is an unstaffed station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, staffed only during busy periods such as the university's entrance ceremony and examination season. Its station numbering is E12.
Notes
The "Palladio Bridge" connecting the platform to the Kyoto Seika University campus was created by Ueda Atsushi, professor emeritus of the university, and forms a distinctive scene in which the station and the university appear integrated.
