Location

History

Kyōden Station opened as a station of Toyama Electric Railway on 1 October 1936. The station building at opening was entirely board-clad, on a site about half the size of today's, and its functions were limited to the bare minimum of ticket sales and gate-checking. In May 1940 the present station building was completed by dismantling and relocating the building from Ishidakō Station on Toyama Electric Railway's Ishidakō Line (between Mikkaichi and Ishidakō stations). It became a station of Toyama Chihō Railway with the company consolidation of 1 January 1943, and today it is operated as a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track. Because the neighboring Shin-Uozu and Dentetsu-Ishida stations opened as stations capable of train crossing, this station was built without train-crossing facilities, but land has been set aside on the mountain side so that it could be expanded to two platforms and two tracks in the future.

Notes

Kyōden's current station building is not original — it was dismantled from Ishida-kō Station on the Toyama Electric Railway's Ishida-kō Line (Mikkaichi–Ishida-kō) and re-erected on the present site, where the relocated building was completed in May 1940.
