Location
History
Kuramaguchi Station is an underground station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line in Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto, operated by the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau. The location was not part of the original Karasuma Line plan, licensed in 1972 for the Kitayama–Takeda section, since no major east-west arterial road crossed the line nearby. Local residents petitioned for a stop, and an application to add the station was filed on 29 May 1973. It opened to passengers on 29 May 1981, the day the Karasuma Line itself opened, and PiTaPa IC card acceptance was added on 1 April 2007. The station carries the number K05.
Notes
Despite its name, the station is roughly 10 kilometres south of the Kurama district, and Karasuma Line announcements specifically warn passengers headed for Kurama not to alight here.
