History

Kuniyoshi Station is a general station established on 1 April 1930 as a station of the Ministry of Railways' Kihara Line. Freight handling ended in October 1974, making it a passenger-only station, and parcel handling ended in February 1984. It became a station of JR East at the privatization of Japanese National Railways in April 1987, and was transferred to the Isumi Railway's Isumi Line when the line was converted to third-sector operation on 24 March of the following year, 1988. Following a rebuilding of the station building in April 1991, and immediately after a renovation of the station building in September 2009, the station has since 1 October of that year carried the naming-rights name "Kaze Soyogu Tani Kuniyoshi" ("Kuniyoshi, Valley Where the Wind Rustles"). On 1 July 2024 NSI (New Space Intelligence Co., Ltd.) newly acquired the naming rights.

Notes

On the storage track within the station grounds, KiHa 30 62, formerly used on lines such as the Sagami Line, and KiHa 28 2346, used on Isumi Railway express trains, are preserved.
