History

Kume Station is a staffed station on the Iyo Railway's Yokogawara Line that opened on 7 May 1893 in Minami-Kume-chō, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. On 22 April 1981 it was relocated 170 meters toward Matsuyama in order to secure a platform length sufficient for four-car trains, and was rebuilt with a structure allowing trains to pass each other. A large-scale renewal, including reconstruction of the station building and improvement of the station plaza, was completed in April 2017. It has one island platform serving two tracks and, together with Iyo-Tachibana and Umemoto stations, is designated a key transport hub on the Yokogawara Line; under the daytime 15-minute-interval timetable, trains pass each other here. Its station number is IY15.
