History
Koyanohata Station opened on 1 December 1960 as a Japanese National Railways station in Ashiro Town, Ninohe District. From opening it was an unstaffed station handling only diesel-railcar passenger traffic. It passed to JR East at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and on 1 June 2018, with Ōbuke Station's move to contracted staffing, its managing station was changed to Morioka Station. The eki-net Q-ticket service began there on 1 October 2024. It is an at-grade station with a single side platform serving one track, with a waiting room on the platform, and continues to operate as an unstaffed station managed by the Morioka General Center.
Notes
Designed to handle diesel-railcar passengers only, the station has been unstaffed since it opened in 1960 and is still run as an unstaffed stop today.
