History

Koyadaira Station is a station on the Kurobe Gorge Railway Main Line at Kurobe, Unazuki-machi, Kurobe, Toyama Prefecture, and, being a station dedicated to Kansai Electric Power, is not open to general passengers. It opened on 1 July 1937 as part of a dedicated line of Nippon Denryoku (Japan Electric Power), extended from Ogurobe Station (no longer extant). On 16 November 1953 Kansai Electric Power began passenger service under the Local Railway Act, and the station formally opened. Kurobe Gorge Railway was established on 4 May 1971 and the station became part of that company, with train operation as Kurobe Gorge Railway beginning on 1 July of the same year. It has one island platform built of steel plate serving two tracks, with a spur line extending to the management facility of Kansai Electric Power's Koyadaira Dam. It is also used for general passenger trains to pass one another.

Notes

Because it was established as a station dedicated to the operations of Kansai Electric Power's Koyadaira Dam, general passengers cannot board or alight here, but it is also used for trolley trains to pass one another.
