Location

History

Kowakidani Station opened on 1 June 1919 on the Hakone Tozan Line, 13.4 km from the line's terminus at Odawara. The station has two opposed side platforms linked at the Chokoku-no-Mori end by a level crossing. On 1 February 2024 the station was made fully unstaffed, and from 1 April 2024 operations passed to Odakyu Hakone as part of an Odakyu Group reorganisation of Hakone services.

Notes

The Kowakidani level crossing immediately beside the station, where the line meets National Route 1, lies on the Hakone Ekiden relay course (leg 5 outbound, leg 6 return); on 2 and 3 January staff are posted at the crossing and hold trains short of it while the runners pass.
