Location
History
Kōwaguchi Station opened on 1 July 1932 as a station on the Chita Railway, in what is now the town of Mihama in Aichi Prefecture. The Chita Railway was absorbed into Meitetsu on 1 February 1943. Freight services ended in fiscal 1961, and the station became unstaffed on 16 February 1985. The Tranpass card system was introduced in March 2007; the Manaca IC card came into use on 11 February 2011, and Tranpass service ended on 29 February 2012. From the 26 March 2011 timetable revision, all trains including limited expresses began calling here. The 18 March 2023 revision raised midday service to four trains per hour, and from 16 March 2024 the two local trains each hour were reclassified as expresses.
Notes
A freight siding that formerly stood on the Kōwa side of the station was, after freight service ended, used as a pull-out track for stabling special trains that ran for beachgoers.
