Location

History

Koura Station is a Matsuura Railway Nishi-Kyushu Line station at Koura-men, Sasa-chō, Kitamatsuura District, Nagasaki Prefecture. It opened as a Sasebo Railway station on 29 August 1931. It became a Railway Ministry station with the nationalization of Sasebo Railway on 1 October 1936. On 1 March 1945 it was relocated to its current position with a track realignment between Sanemoridani and Yotsuibi. Freight handling ended on 15 January 1960, and from 25 April that year it became a contracted-operation station, with station duties entrusted to the Railway Welfare Association. Parcel handling ended on 1 October 1970, leaving it unstaffed. It became a JR Kyushu Matsuura Line station at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987, and was converted to the third-sector Matsuura Railway on 1 April 1988, becoming a station on its Nishi-Kyushu Line.
