History
Kotesashigahara signal post opened in 1966 as the junction for Seibu's Kotesashi depot, and was raised to a station and renamed Kotesashi on 20 November 1970; the first building stood at the platform's west end on the north side. An overtrack station building with north and south entrances was built mid-platform on 30 March 1979. The 6 December 1993 timetable revision made it a Rapid Express stop, and a waiting room opened on 26 December 2006. Numbering assigned SI19 in fiscal 2012; through-running onto the Tokyu Toyoko and Minatomirai lines began on 16 March 2013. The Seibu Ikebukuro Line station, in Kotesashi-cho 1-chome, Tokorozawa, Saitama, is the start or end point of many services because of the depot.
Notes
Until 31 August 1915 the name Kotesashi Station belonged to the station now called Nishi-Tokorozawa Station, and the present station took the name only when it was raised from a signal post in 1970.
