History

Koshigaya-Laketown Station opened on 15 March 2008, timed to coincide with the formal opening of the surrounding Koshigaya Laketown new town and with a JR East timetable revision. The name had been confirmed on 22 February 2007, and total construction costs of 3.6 billion yen were split evenly between the Urban Renaissance Agency and the city of Koshigaya. A south entrance was added on 6 August 2012. The station is an elevated structure with two opposed side platforms long enough for eight-car trains, set above a ground-level station building and a free passageway about 13 metres wide. Day-to-day operations are contracted to JR East Station Services under Minami-Koshigaya's management, and the station houses NewDays, accessibility lifts, and reserved-seat ticket machines.

Notes

Among Musashino Line stations that are not interchanges, this is the busiest by boarding count; it overtook Higashi-Urawa for that distinction in fiscal 2021, helped by footfall from the Aeon Laketown shopping centre.
