History
Kōnodai Station opened on 30 August 1914 as Ichikawa-Kōnodai Station on the Keisei Main Line in what is now Ichikawa, Chiba. It was shortened to Ichikawa on 11 December of the same year and re-extended to Ichikawa-Kōnodai (with different kanji) on 6 April 1921. The present name dates from 1 April 1948. The station was elevated on 4 June 1980 in conjunction with replacement of the adjacent Edogawa railway bridge. Only all-stations local services stop today; the station was also an express (kyūkō) stop until the October 2002 timetable revision that introduced the rapid service. Keisei-wide numbering on 17 July 2010 gave the stop the code KS13.
Notes
The plateau along the Edogawa just north of the station is known as Kōnodai, site of the ancient provincial capital (kokufu) of Shimōsa Province, and the area appears in Hiroshige's print Kōnodai Tonegawa Fūkei from the One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
