History
Konashi Station opened on 2 September 1928 on what would become the Ōfunato Line in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture. Freight handling ended on 1 March 1962, parcel handling stopped on 1 November 1972, and the station was made unattended that same year under an agricultural-cooperative simple consignment. It transferred to JR East at the 1 April 1987 privatisation of the Japanese National Railways. The simple consignment ended in July 2005, after which the station became fully unstaffed, and a replacement station building was completed in October 2006. The station is now managed remotely from Kesennuma Station and is served by a single side platform handling bidirectional traffic.
