History
Kōnan-Chūō Station opened on 4 September 1976 on the Yokohama Municipal Subway's Blue Line. It had been planned under the provisional name Sasage Station, after the area's original place name Sasage-chō, but in 1972 the new town name Kōnan-Chūō-dōri was assigned to this district, where Kōnan Ward's government offices are concentrated, and the station took its name from that. Operation was outsourced to Keio Setsubi Service on 1 December 2004 and platform-edge doors were activated on 7 July 2007. The No. 2 exit carries a solar-power installation. A shop beside the ticket gates, staffed by station employees, sells prison-industry (CAPIC) goods, including items made at the nearby Yokohama Prison, alongside products from local sheltered workshops.
Notes
The No. 2 exit, on the north side of the prefectural road, is topped with a solar-power installation.
