History

Komeno Station opened on 26 June 1938, when Kansai Express Electric Railway completed its line between Kuwana and Kankyū-Nagoya (now Kintetsu Nagoya). On 1 January 1940 Sangū Express Electric Railway merged with Kansai Express Electric Railway, and on 15 March 1941 a merger with Osaka Electric Tramway formed Kansai Express Railway, placing the station on the Nagoya Line under a line-name revision. On 1 June 1944 the merger of Kansai Express Railway and Nankai Railway formed Kinki Nippon Railway (Kintetsu), and the station passed to it. A ceremony marking the completion of the Nagoya Line's gauge-conversion work was held on 27 November 1959, and PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007.

Notes

On the up side of the station is the Tomiyoshi Rolling Stock Depot's Komeno yard, where limited-express trains are stabled; trains entering the yard from Kintetsu Nagoya Station arrive on track 3 and then reverse into the yard.
