History
Komano Station is a station in Komano Yokomichi-ue, Nanō-chō, Kaizu, Gifu Prefecture, that opened on 27 April 1919 when the (former) Yōrō Railway extended its line between Kuwana Station and Yōrō Station. Through subsequent mergers and transfers it became a station of Ibigawa Electric in 1922, the Yōrō Electric Railway in 1928, the Ise Electric Railway's Yōrō Line in 1929, Yōrō Dentetsu in 1936, the Sangū Express Electric Railway in 1940, the Kansai Express Railway in 1941, and Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) in 1944; on 1 October 2007 it was separated from Kintetsu's operations and became a station of the present (new) Yōrō Railway. It is a ground-level station with a total of two platforms and three tracks — a single side platform serving one track and an island platform serving two tracks. The ticket gate is on the side-platform (up) side, and it is a staffed station where each train is checked separately at the ticket office window.
Notes
The area in front of the station is an alluvial fan close to the Ibi River with pronounced fluvial landforms, and it was even used as a topic in a 2011 University of Tokyo humanities geography entrance-exam question.
