Location

History

Kokuryō Station opened on 15 April 1913 as a station of the Keiō Electric Tramway, on a site north of Route 20 (the Kōshū Kaidō). It was relocated to its present location on 17 December 1927. Wartime consolidation brought it under Tokyo Kyūkō Dentetsu (the "Greater Tokyu") on 31 May 1944, and on 1 June 1948 Keiō Teito Electric Railway — the predecessor of today's Keiō Corporation — was separated from Tokyu. A temporary overhead station building with a lift came into use on 4 March 2007, and on 19 August 2012 the tracks and platforms were moved underground, replacing the former ground-level layout; platform doors entered service on 26 August 2012.

Notes

The Chōfu City Board of Education has erected a memorial stele inscribed "Keiō Line Former Kokuryō (Kitaura) Station Site," which records that the stop was reportedly called Kitaura for a time at local insistence.
