History
Koikawa Station opened on 15 August 1929 as Koikawa halt, a passenger stop on the Fuji Minobu Railway. The Ministry of Railways leased the line on 1 October 1938 and simultaneously upgraded it to a station. It was nationalized on 1 May 1941, becoming a station on the Ministry of Railways' Minobu Line, and passed to JR Central with the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987. The IC card TOICA is scheduled to become usable from 1 October 2025. Located at Kamisanjō, Chūō City, Yamanashi Prefecture, it is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track, unstaffed and managed by Minami-Kōfu Station. There is no station building, only a waiting shelter and toilet on the platform.
Notes
The planned Chūō Shinkansen maglev line is to cross the conventional line on a grade separation near this station, and elevated-bridge construction is underway to its east and west.
