History

Kitaurakohan Station is a station of the Kashima Rinkai Railway Ōarai Kashima Line that opened on 14 March 1985 with the opening of the Ōarai Kashima Line. It is located at Kajiyama, Hokota, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is the station closest to the shore of Lake Kitaura on the Ōarai Kashima Line, and the lake can be viewed in full from the platform, which sits atop an embankment. It is an elevated station with a single side platform serving one track, reached by climbing stairs to the platform atop the embankment. It is unstaffed, with only a simple waiting shelter on the platform. A parking lot, bicycle parking, a telephone box, and toilets are provided beside the stairway to the platform.

Notes

From the station and from train windows, two antenna radomes of the Cabinet Satellite Intelligence Center's Kitaura Sub-center (an intelligence-gathering satellite ground station) in Namegata, on the opposite shore of Lake Kitaura, can be seen.
