A completion ceremony for a new station building was held on 18 May 1947 (it had come into use from 13 May), and on 30 November 1971 the handling of small-lot freight and parcels ended, ticket gates became unstaffed, and the station moved to simplified consignment with only train-operation staff on hand. It became fully unstaffed with the introduction of CTC on 7 March 1983, and it became a JR East station at the privatisation of the national railway on 1 April 1987. It has an island platform serving two tracks, with the station building and platform connected by a level crossing within the station premises.
