History
Kitasuzaka Station is a station on the Nagano Dentetsu Nagano Line in Ōaza Ogawara, Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture, with station number N14. It opened as Toyosu Station, on the Katō Railway, on 26 March 1923. It became a Nagano Dentetsu station following the merger of Nagano Electric Railway and Katō Railway on 30 September 1926, then was suspended on 11 January 1944 for wartime power conservation. It resumed service under the new name Kitasuzaka Station on 11 April 1960 (unstaffed at first), staff were posted from 1 December 1964, and a station-building reconstruction and conversion into a passing station, costing roughly 200 million yen, was completed on 24 June 1994. It became unstaffed again on 1 March 2007, became a station bypassed by Limited Express B services in the timetable revision of 13 February 2011, and lost its train-passing function in the timetable revision of 3 April 2018. Between 2023 and 2024 the secondary track was removed, and the station has now returned to a single platform serving one track.
Notes
The secondary track added in the 1994 project, which cost roughly 200 million yen to convert the station into a passing station, was removed between 2023 and 2024, and the station has once again become a single-platform, single-track through station.
