History

Kita-Sukematsu Station opened on 28 December 1957 on the Nankai Main Line between Takaishi-chō (now Takaishi) and Sukematsu (now Matsunohama), built specifically to serve the planned Sukematsu Housing Complex that opened in stages from 1961. The station is a ground-level structure with two opposed side platforms whose ticket gates are separate, so passengers transferring between platforms must exit and re-enter. Station numbering NK18 was assigned in April 2012. Local government has since considered an overhead-station rebuild as part of district master planning, though no construction has been programmed.

Notes

The Kita-Sukematsu shopping street, which runs along the "Municipal Sukematsu-Chihara Line" road passing east-west in front of the station, traces its origin to the legend of the "Nunobiki no Michi" (Road of the Drawn Cloth), which tells of cloth being drawn along the route when the deity enshrined at Hijiri Shrine moved from Sukematsu Beach to Shinoda district.
