Location

History

Kita-Shirakawa Station opened on 19 December 1911 and is located on the Tōhoku Main Line in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture. Freight handling ended on 1 August 1963 and parcel handling on 1 February 1984, and on 1 December of that year it became unstaffed and moved to simplified contracted service. It became a station of East Japan Railway Company at the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987, and became fully unstaffed in 1990. Use of the Suica IC card became possible on 26 October 2003, and the eki-net Q-ticket service began on 1 October 2024. It is currently a ground-level station with two platforms and two tracks, using one side platform and one island platform.

Notes

The middle track of the island platform has been taken out of use and fenced off, a remnant of the station's original two-platform, three-track layout.
