History
Kitahanada Station opened on 18 April 1987 with the southern extension of the Osaka Municipal Subway’s Midōsuji Line from Abiko to Nakamozu. The station was inherited by Osaka Metro on 1 April 2018 when the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau was privatised, and platform-edge screen doors began operation on 21 August 2021. The station consists of a single underground island platform serving two tracks, and is administered from neighbouring Shin-Kanaoka Station within the Tennōji District. The concourse area outside the gates features a tile mural depicting the Yamato River.
Notes
Kitahanada ranks 18th of the 20 stations on the Midōsuji Line by passenger numbers, ahead of only Nishitanabe and Shin-Kanaoka. Ridership grew after the opening of Aeon Mall Sakai Kitahanada but has levelled off in recent years; the mall's other anchor tenant, the Sakai Kitahanada Hankyu department store, closed on 31 July 2017.
