History
Kino Station opened on 1 December 1928 as a station on the Kurama Electric Railway, simultaneously with the opening of the line. It became a station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad Kurama Line through the 1942 merger, and in November 1944 the section including this station was singled as part of wartime material requisitioning, and the station was relocated to the west side of the level crossing. On 1 April 1986 the Kurama Line was transferred to Eizan Electric Railway and became a station of that company, and with the re-doubling of the track on 28 September 1990 it was relocated again to its present position, closer to a newly developed residential area to the south. Until Kyōto-Seikadai-mae Station opened in 1989, it was the nearest station to what was then Kyoto Seika Junior College, and many student apartments were built around the station. It carries station number E11.
Notes
The "Anta Bridge" over the Nagashiro River near the station takes its name from an old anecdote in which people crossing a simple log bridge would defer to one another, saying "Anta (you) go first."
