History

Kii-Ida Station was established on 8 August 1940 when the Ministry of Railways' Kisei West Line was extended from Shingū Station to Kii-Kimoto Station (now Kumano-shi Station). It is located in Ida, Kihō, Minamimuro District, Mie Prefecture, and is a station on the Kisei Main Line of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). Until just before the town's merger with the former village of Udono, it was the only railway station in Kihō, though it lay a considerable distance from the town center. It was incorporated into the Kisei Main Line in the line-name revision of 15 July 1959; freight handling was discontinued on 1 October 1962, parcel handling on 1 October 1964, and the station became unstaffed on 21 December 1983. It became a station of JR Central at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987.
