Location

History

Kazusa-Nakano Station opened on 16 May 1928 as a Kominato Railway terminus, intended as one anchor of a planned but never-completed cross-Bōsō rail route. The Japanese Government Railway's Kihara Line reached it on 26 August 1934, so that the two unfinished cross-Bōsō projects met at this station. Freight ended on 1 October 1974. With JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 the Kihara Line passed to JR East, and on 24 March 1988 it was transferred again to the third-sector Isumi Railway; the station has been unstaffed since. The wooden station building was reconstructed in 1989.

Notes

Rail still in use on the Kominato Railway platform carries a Yawata Steel Works imprint dated 1927, predating the station's 1928 opening — believed to be original to the line's construction.
