History

Kayamachi 6-chōme Station is a stop on the Iyo Railway's Jōhoku Line in Kayamachi 6-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with station number 08. It is used by lines 1 and 2 of the city tram (Matsuyama city lines). It opened in 1911 as Mitsuguchi Station on the Dōgo Line. On 3 April 1927 it was incorporated into the Jōhoku Line when the Dōgo Line section between Kiyachō and Dōgo was abolished. On 1 January 1967 it was renamed Kayamachi 6-chōme Station with the implementation of the residential address system.

Notes

The stop has a single track, but low-floor platforms stand on both sides, each located across the road (a level crossing) from the other. Owing to its favorable location, condominium developments have increased rapidly in recent years.
