History

Kawagoeshi Station first opened on 1 May 1914 as Kawagoe-machi Station, coinciding with the launch of the Tōjō Railway line from Ikebukuro, and was renamed Kawagoeshi Station on 1 December 1922. The station, in the city of Kawagoe, Saitama, is operated by Tōbu Railway on the Tōjō Line and through-running services began towards Shibuya via the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line on 14 June 2008. Station numbering ("TJ-22") was introduced on 17 March 2012, through-running to Motomachi-Chukagai began in March 2013, and Sōtetsu through-running started in March 2023. The station has two island platforms serving four tracks, with an adjacent maintenance depot.

Notes

A Tōbu maintenance depot sits beside the station and is responsible for minor overhauls of the entire Tōjō Line fleet.
