History

Katashimo Station opened on 1 July 1927, at the same time as the opening of the Osaka Electric Tramway's Yagi Line (now the Kintetsu Osaka Line) between Onji and Takada (now Yamato-Takada). It became a station of the Kansai Express Railway through the merger with the Sangu Express Electric Railway in March 1941, and passed to Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) through the merger of June 1944. It became PiTaPa-compatible in April 2007, and in March 2012 became a stop for the newly introduced section semi-express (kukan-junkyu) services. In 2022, ground-level ticket gates were newly built on both platform sides, in March and July, and the underground ticket gates and concourse used until then were abolished. It became unstaffed all day on 10 November 2024.

Notes

Katashimo received separate ground-level entrances on each platform in 2022, retiring the underground concourse whose gate had until then been the station's only ticket gate.
