History

Kasugabaru Station opened on 12 April 1924 on what is now the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line, in Kasuga City, Fukuoka. On 2 May 1970 it became the first overhead station building in Kyushu. Express stops began on 26 March 1983, with all express trains stopping from 20 January 2001. Barrier-free upgrades were finished on 1 March 2003, and nimoca IC cards started on 18 May 2008. A temporary station building came into use on 24 February 2018 as part of the Zasshonokuma–Shimoōri grade-separation project; the new elevated station opened on 28 August 2022. Limited-express stops began on 16 March 2024, and the ticket gate was relocated from ground floor to second floor on 27 July 2024 once interior fit-out was complete.
