Location
History
Kanayagawa Station opened on 18 October 1909 on the Tōhoku Main Line, 264.0 kilometres north of Tokyo. The Matsukawa derailment of 17 August 1949, an alleged act of sabotage that derailed a train, occurred in the vicinity. JR East took over operations on 1 April 1987 at JNR privatisation. The station has one island platform connected to its station building by a footbridge; the Midori no Madoguchi closed on 31 January 2023. Located in the southern part of Fukushima City, the station primarily serves commuters and students travelling along the Tōhoku Main Line corridor.
