History

Kamiyashiro Station opened on 10 December 1970 as a station of the Nagoya Municipal Subway's Higashiyama Line, in Kamiyashiro 1-chōme, Meitō-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. On 23 April 1998 the Kamiyashiro Terminal Building, which also served as housing (City Family Kamiyashiro), was completed, and the Nagoya City Meitō Culture Small Theater and a bus terminal were built as an integrated development adjoining the station building. The IC card "manaca" entered service on 11 February 2011, and platform-edge doors entered use on 15 February 2016. Its station number is H20, and it is an elevated station with opposed platforms serving two tracks.

Notes

The elevated structure near the station is built spanning the Ueda River, which flows through eastern Nagoya, and a retention pond has been built directly beneath the station as a flood-control measure.
