History
Kami-shioya Station is a Kagoshima City Tram Taniyama Line tram stop in Higashi-Taniyama 1-chōme, Kagoshima, serving Route 1. It was opened on 1 December 1912 under Kagoshima Electric Tramway and transferred to the Kagoshima City Electric Bureau (today the Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau) on 1 July 1928. The stop has two opposed side platforms at-grade, with an adjacent grade crossing allowing riders to cross between platforms when a tram is not passing. Because it sits one stop before the Taniyama terminus, only the up-bound (Kōrimoto-direction) platform has a roof. Both platforms have approach indicators and announcements. Standard wheelchairs are accepted but powered chairs are not, because the platform width is below regulation.
Notes
Because Kami-shioya is one stop short of the line's southern terminus at Taniyama, only the up-bound platform, serving trams towards Kōrimoto and Kagoshima-eki-mae, has a roof; the down-bound platform towards Taniyama has none.
