History

Kaminoshō Station was newly established on 1 August 1960 as an unstaffed, passengers-only station between Matsusaka and Gongenmae stations on the Japanese National Railways Meishō Line. When first built, it had a simple platform assembled from railway ties, with no waiting shelter, just a bench. It became a station of JR Central with the division and privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. It is located at Kaminoshō-chō, Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture, a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track on the north side of the line. It is an unstaffed station managed by Matsusaka Station, and a waiting shelter has since been installed on the platform.
