History
Kamimoku Station opened on 30 October 1928 on the Jōetsu Line in what is now the town of Minakami, Gunma Prefecture, and is located 53.7 kilometres from the line's starting point at Takasaki. The station passed to East Japan Railway Company (JR East) with the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. It became unstaffed on 14 March 1985, was operated as a simple-agency station from 3 June 1985 under the local town, then fully unstaffed again from 1 June 2007. Suica IC card service began on 14 March 2009 with the expansion of the Tokyo suburban area, and the present station building dates from a 2009 rebuild.
Notes
Kamimoku sits on an embankment with platforms reached by a long staircase from the station building; a separate underground passage links the staircase to the second platform.
