History

Kamitode Station was established as Ryōbi-Tennō Station when the Ryōbi Light Railway, predecessor of the Fukuen Line, opened on 21 July 1914. The Ryōbi Light Railway was renamed the Ryōbi Railway on 26 June 1926, and on 1 September 1933 the Ryōbi Railway's section between Ryōbi-Fukuyama and Fuchū-machi was nationalised, becoming a station of the Ministry of Railways' Fukuen Line and being renamed Kamitode Station at the same time. It became a station of JR West with the division and privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987.

Notes

The station's original name when it opened was "Ryōbi-Tennō Station"; it was renamed to its present name, "Kamitode Station," to coincide with nationalisation in 1933.
