History

Kami Ita Station opened on 3 March 2001 as a stop on the Heisei Chikuhō Railway's Tagawa Line. It is located in Ōaza Ida, Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, and carries station number HC16. From 1 April 2009 a local metal-recycling business, Kanda Shōten, held the station's naming rights, giving it the alternate name Kanda Shōten Kamiita Station. It is an unstaffed stop with a single ground-level platform serving one track, reached by stairs and a barrier-free ramp; no station building stands there. The Hitahikosan Line, run by JR Kyushu, parallels the Tagawa Line and veers north just east of the station, but does not serve Kami Ita. Today the station handles local Tagawa Line traffic, with trains roughly every 30 minutes.

Notes

A separate, unrelated station also called Kami Ita Station once stood on the Japanese National Railways' Soeda Line in the same Ōaza Ida locality of Tagawa, but at a different spot; it was abolished in 1985 along with the Soeda Line, and today's Kami Ita Station is not a relocation of it.
