History

Kameyama Station is a Sanyo Electric Railway Main Line stop in Himeji, Hyōgo Prefecture, numbered SY 41. It opened on 19 August 1923 as Kameyama-gobo Station, the day the Kobe–Himeji Electric Railway itself began service. Ownership passed to Ujigawa Electric in 1927, then to the newly spun-off Sanyo Electric Railway in 1933. The station became Dentetsu Kameyama Station on 1 April 1944 and took its present name on 7 April 1991, in a station-name tidy-up that followed the closure of the Shikama Port branch. Rebuilt in 1969 with an underground passage linking its two side platforms, it remains unstaffed today, serving a residential district near Kameyama Hontokuji Temple.

Notes

On 22 December 2014, Sanyo Electric Railway signed an international sister-railway agreement at Taipei Station with Taiwan's railway authority, a pairing chosen because Taiwan also has a station called Kameyama and both companies operate lines that run along a coastline.
