History

Kamata Station is a station on the Iyo Railway's Gunchū Line that opened on 15 February 1967 in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture; its station number is IY28. It stands at the edge of the city limits, so that a train departing the station outbound crosses the Shigenobu River and enters the town of Masaki in Iyo District. On 1 September 2008, when Koizumi Station became staffed, Kamata was downgraded from management by a part-time station attendant to an unstaffed station. It is a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track; the staff room that remains at the ticket gate houses an IC i~Card fare gate and an automatic ticket machine. The riverbed of the Shigenobu River and the Yōgo-Minami Interchange of the Matsuyama Outer Ring Road lie close to the station.
