History

Kamagaya-Daibutsu Station opened on 8 January 1949 on the Shin-Keisei Railway's Shin-Keisei Line in Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture, and takes its name from the Amida Buddha statue beside its north exit. In 1998 it was chosen for the Kanto-no-Eki Hyakusen, the list of one hundred notable stations in the Kantō region, the citation praising a station name derived from the Amida Buddha statue in front of it and the sense of history it conveys. The station number SL13 was applied in February 2014. On 1 April 2025 Shin-Keisei Railway was absorbed into Keisei Electric Railway, making this a station on Keisei's Matsudo Line, and the number was changed to KS76. Trains once turned back here from Keisei-Tsudanuma, with about half terminating during the through-running era with the Hokusō and Kōdan lines; the turn-back points have since been removed.

Notes

After Ikuhiro Kiyota of the Chiba Lotte Marines, who comes from near the station, won both the Best Nine and Golden Glove awards in 2015, a relief of his hand-print was installed inside the station on 10 June 2016.
