History

Kadoma-shi Station was first opened by the Keihan Electric Railway on 20 June 1971 as Shin-Kadoma Station, on the Keihan Main Line between the older Kadoma and Furukawabashi stops, in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture. It was renamed to its present name on 23 March 1975 when the former Kadoma station was abolished and Nishisansō opened. Quadruple-tracking from Temmabashi reached the station in September 1976 and continued to Neyagawa signalbox by March 1980. Ahead of the Osaka Monorail Main Line's arrival on 22 August 1997, the Keihan station was rebuilt as a transfer point with an overhead station building, its platforms remaining at ground level; the rebuild won the Osaka Governor's Prize at the Sixth Osaka Mind-Touching Townscape Awards in December 1999. The Keihan platform carries station number KH13 and the monorail platform number 24.

Notes

Although Kadoma-shi is a transfer station served by two routes, the Keihan track layout means the semi-express — one of the line's daytime mainstays — passes through: only local trains and sub-express (kukan kyūkō) services, which call at every station east of Moriguchi-shi, stop here, making it the busiest Keihan station the semi-express skips.
