Location

History

Kado Station opened on 1 August 1902 as a Japanese Government Railways station serving the town of Kado in Akita Prefecture, on what is now the Ōu Main Line. The JGR became the Japan National Railways after the Second World War, and the station was absorbed into JR East at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987. Kado is a simple-consignment station administered from Higashi-Noshiro Station and operated by the Mitane municipal authority, with a point-of-sale terminal issuing ordinary, express and reserved-seat tickets for all JR lines. The layout comprises one side platform and one island platform serving three tracks, connected by a footbridge.

Notes

Track 2 at Kado is used primarily by freight trains changing direction.
