History
Jōno Station is a station on the Kitakyushu Monorail's Kokura Line, numbered 06, in Fujimi 3-chōme, Kokura-Minami-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. It opened on 9 January 1985, the same day the monorail itself began operating, and shares its name with a separate JR Kyushu station about 500 meters east, a 10-minute walk away; midway toward neighboring Katano Station the monorail line crosses over the JR Nippō Main Line. The elevated station, built above National Route 322 at the Jōno underpass, has two side platforms serving two tracks. Mono SUGOCA IC-card ticketing was added on 1 October 2015. It is the northernmost Kitakyushu Monorail station in Kokura-Minami-ku, serving a mainly residential area with few shops, near Fukuoka Prefectural Kokura Commercial High School.
