History

Izu-Nitta Station opened on 1 July 1922 on what is now the Izuhakone Railway Sunzu Line, in Kannami Town, Shizuoka Prefecture. It came about after Nitta Daihachirō — a promoter of the Sunzu Electric Railway and headmaster of the district-run Tagata Agriculture and Forestry School — provided land of his own: until then residents had to walk to Daiba Station to reach Mishima, and pupils of the school had to alight at Haraki or Daiba. The opening immediately attracted a small commercial cluster of rickshaw operators, a freight forwarder, a confectioner, a barber and a bank agent. The station was fully rebuilt on 21 April 1993, and from 29 March 2020 staffing was reduced to a single morning window between 07:00 and 08:30.

Notes

Tōkai Bus briefly ran a route between Kannami Station and Tsukamoto via Hirai and Nitta from 1937 until its withdrawal in 1941.
