History

Iyo-Miyanoshita Station was established as the Uwajima Railway's Miyanoshita Station on 18 October 1914 at Miyanoshita, Mima-chō, Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture. It was renamed Iyo-Miyanoshita Station with the nationalization of the Uwajima Railway on 1 August 1933. Freight handling ended on 1 June 1970 and parcel handling on 25 November 1983, leaving it unstaffed. It became a JR Shikoku station at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987, assigned station number G44. It has two opposed platforms and two tracks, and is a simplified-commission station where a renovated wooden station building survives, with the platforms linked by a footbridge.

Notes

It is only 0.9 km from neighboring Muden Station, and because it is located at the center of the former Mima-chō (now part of Uwajima City), it has relatively high ridership for a small station along the Yodo Line.
