History
Iwaya Station opened on the Hanshin Electric Railway Main Line on 12 April 1905 in what is now Nada-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture. The tracks to the west of the station were moved underground in 1934. Service was suspended after the Great Hanshin earthquake of January 1995, and restoration of the Hanshin Main Line took roughly seven months. Station numbering took effect on 21 December 2013, assigning Iwaya the designation HS-30. The station's platforms — one side platform and one island platform, each serving a single track — lie in a trench, and the station provides access to the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art and the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution.
