History
Iwaki-Ishikawa Station opened on 4 December 1934, when the Suigun Line was completed end to end with the opening of the section between Iwaki-Tanagura and Kawahigashi. The station building burned down in a fire in 1960; after freight handling ended in October 1982 and parcel handling in February 1984, the station passed to JR East at the division and privatization of JNR in April 1987. A stationmaster ceased to be posted in April 2018 and the station became one with contracted operations; its Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed that October. It is a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track and an island platform serving two tracks, for a total of two platforms and three tracks, with operations entrusted to JR East Station Service.
