History
Iwahara Station opened on 15 October 1925 as a station of the Izu-Hakone Railway's Daiyūzan Line, in Iwahara, Minamiashigara, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is an unstaffed, ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track; the platform is on the west side of the track, and access is via stairs at the Tsukahara-side end. Near the platform entrance are a roof shelter and a ticket-machine booth, equipped with one automatic ticket vending machine and one boarding-ticket issuing machine each, as well as a simplified IC-card gate. The ticket machine was installed in March 1992. Its station number is ID08, and it is located between Sagami-Numata Station (ID07) and Tsukahara Station (ID09).
Notes
Because residents of the Iwahara and Tsukahara districts each insisted on having a station in their own district and would not yield, stations were built in both, and as a result the stretch between Iwahara Station and Tsukahara Station is one of the shortest interstation distances on the Daiyuzan Line.
